TSW Build Listing: My First 60

Our “My First 60″ builds are targeted for about 60 ability points — Q2/3, Kingsmouth obtainable. They represent the initial builds for a player starting the game, but wanting to play a focused role. Thus, My First 60 builds are incomplete and NOT intended for mid-game or later play.

Check out our new TSW BUILD SPREADSHEET (link to the Google doc itself).

TSW Build Listing: “Blue Mountain Specials” – 400 (Q6) point builds

We developed our “Blue Mountain Specials” to address the increased difficulty players encounter as the leave Savage Coast (Q4-Q5) and enter Blue Mountains (Q5-Q6).  These TSW Build types are designed to enhance survivability when soloing.

I just wanted to share a single target damage build for the end game. I have tried a lot of different builds thats basically why I play TSW and got almost all ablilities now 95% ish done. This is the build I got most dmage from both burst (not counting impare builds) and sustained damage.

    Build: http://www.drakkashi.com/secretworld/wheel.php?16=4&20=2&18=4&34=2&73=6&35=1&19=1&18=5&67=2&19=0&2=1&19=2&26=1&59=6

Use Prey on the Weak to build resources then pop CD’s at 5 res. Consume with Tear em up first then Four Horse men. Easy rotation, trick is to manage cooldowns good. the build gets its damage from the 4 damage multipliers and good Burst attack type synergy.

Thanks for the reference. We’re glad to hear you like our builds page. I have put together some thoughts on Skill Point allocation. I find that those who advocate asymmetric advancement (e.g. buy your weapon to Q10 before moving your talisman) wind up missing a ton of potential attribute points and also mess up the con system (making it seem as though things are harder to fight).

As long as you stay reasonably balanced, things work out. Within reasonable balance, though, there are many ways to decide how to allocate your skill points.

Interesting blog post, I enjoyed the read.

Ryahl just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I appreciate the work you put into your site and keeping up with the game. great site with some great info about the game. Keep up the good work.

    • RyahlRyahl says:

Thanks, it’s been a lot of fun putting all this together. This is the first time Aela or I have put together anything on this level. It’s been a learning experience from square one, a very enjoyable one!

  4. Eckzorzist says:

Would be nice if you could add http://www.tsw-builder.com/ to the list of builders. It is excellent in finding synergies and upcoming support for french and german language.

  5. warren colvin says:

I am really looking for a pistol/chaos build…dps/survival…that plays to the hindered and weakened states. Having a hard time coming up with one on my own though.

  6. Alex says:

With this build I’m start tanking my first 4/6 and 5/6 Polaris, HR, DW NM.
Depends on the boss u can put more surv-ty from 4 CD ability / second or third impair / increase your evade or physical/magical protection

  7. warren colvin says:

I would like to see a few more dps penetration builds. Everything is crit. Would like to see some ranged dps and melee dps focused on penetration.

  8. Guntou says:

Hey, guys, I’m slowly working on some sort of build for Blade/Elemental here. Any tips on how to write/put stuff together? Figure you guys were missing it on the my first 60, so…

    • RyahlRyahl says:

I don’t have anything specific in mind for Blade/Elemental. I would think they might synergize around a DPS build, but sword really brings pens while elemental brings crits. That said, I could see where the mandatory crits from some elemental passives might help add some boom to the guaranteed pen of some of the blade abilities.

None the less, the real problem putting these two together is the role they would occupy. In general, blade is a tanking specialty in groups as very few use melee dps. Elemental is primarily dps with some support elements. They don’t complement each other very well.

      • Guntou says:

Actually, they can and do complement at times on a DPS level. Tanking I would have to mess with. Early on, you can build an effective build for at least Kingsmouth and Savage Coast that can burn through enemies fairly quickly.

Keep in mind, I’m only on the Savage Coast portion right now. I’m trying to get up to 400 points so I can offer up something, but this could take a bit.

  9. El Furioso says:

I’m really enjoying the Hammer/Chaos and Hammer/Shotgun “First 60″ tank builds. Has anyone built any good Blue Mountain Special versions of these same concepts?

  10. Guntou says:

Hi again. Took me a bit to make sure I copied what I did right. Unfortunately, I’m a bit stalled at the moment as to where I want to go with the build but this one is definitely a nice DPS build that does what it’s supposed to. Current nickname for it is “Thunder Blade” at a guess. I’d say Lightning, but the animation for Thor’s Hammer kinda takes the cake.

The general idea is open with the blade torrent. Depending upon what you are up against, you can then go for Balance Blade followed by an Electrical Storm and then rinse and repeat, or nail a single enemy with Dancing Blade followed by Thor’s Hammer. Martial Discipline serves as your “oh ****” button. In Kingsmouth and Polaris, I enjoyed this build immensely. Gear-wise, focus should be on getting Penetration and Critical. Role best suited is straight up damage dealing. It is designed to heal you from doing the damage more or less.

I encountered problems when I first went into Hell Raised with it, but would welcome opinions on it. As for a higher “400″ type of build, that is still being worked on. Replacing and figuring abilities has me stuck in the Savage Coast at the moment. I’ll update you guys if you like this one.

  11. Threemoons says:

Odd, I don’t see a shotgun/blood build on that list…any plans to add?

    • RyahlRyahl says:

Neither Aela or I typically run DPS builds. So, for these posts we rely exclusively on the build submissions or lean on our guild mates to share their secrets. At the moment, no one in our guild is running Blood/Shotty. Everyone is primarily AR/Shotty with situation changes (and few of those, at that).

  12. Pinche says:

Hello all, I feel like I’m a newb all the time. I got the game around launch, beasted through everything, then stopped and waited for more stuff to do, now that it is here, I’m not sure what to do in the nightmares. I’m sure the STAR DPS is still good, but I dunno, I wanna roll faces with someone else’s ideas, that’s how I roll. Anyways, I got 100 wheel, like no aux wheel, but I’m down to rep your build if you got something cool.

    • AelaAela says:

Some of the DPS builds are dated. However, AFAIK the 3 step
      Safety Off – Burst builder
Three Round Burst – burst finisher
out for a kill – shotty finisher
of the “STAR” build is still fairly solid. I plan on looking at our submitted builds sometime this week and update the build page as things slow down post-Christmas. (assuming my Father’s internet can remain stable)

  13. Nash says:

Hey there! My friend and I are using guides from this site but my buddy was wondering if there will be a continuation of the Hammer/Shotgun Support build that’s on the My first 60 Tank-Support that Ryahl added. He just started and he’s finishing up the My First 60 build and isn’t sure where to put points as he progresses. I saw in the comments that Aela mentioned a Blue Mountain Special update for this build was possible. Thanks and awesome job!!

  14. David says:

Hey there! I have a question. I was looking through the site (which is awesome btw) and see the different build but I’m kind of stuck…

I prefer to play dps and more of a soloer than a party guy… and i use both pistol and blade and I dont see much builds that could fit this. Right now im using the “official” TSW builds, but I would like any clues or pointers on how to perfect my character.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    • RyahlRyahl says:

Generally, our soloing builds are a survival combination using AR/Fist/Blood and another weapon. Pistol augments healing, but may not provide enough direct healing to augment a blade dps build.

  15. Sam says:

I just had a quick question… all your blue mountain guides are for 400 AP, but I am getting ready to move into Blue mountains (Completed Dawning of an Endless night in Savage coast and got a chain in a different quest taking me to the soldier camp in blue mountain) but I am only just coming up on 200 AP. Does this mean I need to grind a savage coast a bit more? Or am I ok advancing? I have 2 talismans at 5 one at 4 and my main weapons at 5 as well… I am not struggling at all with AR/SG in savage coast and can often over pull just fine.

    • AelaAela says:

With the details you have listed, you are correct that you would be sitting at around 210 AP. This is QL5, and is definitely savage coast level. You can move onto Blue Mountain, the worst thing that would happen is you would end up unable to solo and have to go back to Savage Coast. Keep in mind the difficulty does increase quite a bit moving into Blue Mountain (however not so much as it once did). Therefore, you can always try and see. However, keep in mind if you do nothing but the main story line (or little more then it), you will move quickly into areas you aren’t high enough level for. If you haven’t done many of the quests in SC, you might consider doing more of them. You can also see about running a few Hell Rising runs, as the experience in the zone will make you more knowledgeable when it is time to do the elite level versions.

  16. Gromitt Gunn says:

Hi, I am using the First 60 blade/fist build and love it for soloing, but for group content in MMOs I tend to prefer ranged DPS followed by ranged healing. I also noted some comments that melee group DPS is pretty doable at lower tiers.

I have fairly limited playtime, so I would like to use my AP/SP wisely. Looking at the builds here, it seems like I could continue on my blade/fist solo path with the Blue Mountain build, tweaking it for group play, and also synergistically work on fist/blood for healing, and later on working towards a blood/elemental group/raid range DPS build.

Given your experiences, does that make sense as a long-term plan? It seems like focusing AP/SP on four weapon trees to achieve multiple roles is a smart investment, but I don’t know if there are endgame conditions that I am just not aware of that would negatively affect that.

Thanks! Love the site – it so amazingly helpful and informative.

    • AelaAela says:

Yes, dungeon viable fist healing builds are fairly simple to build out. If you use the Blade/Fist survival build you can build it out fairly quickly, and you should have plenty of AP left to build out a fist healing build prior to hitting Q10. However, I would recommend (if you want to heal) to use a Fist/pistol build for healing (instead of blood). You will not be doing much dps (any?) but your healing will be quite solid :)
